Difficult Case Management

Cataract Surgeon Southern FloridaAll the Premium eye Centers in the Miami area are ready to provide help even to the most difficult cases. Dr. Preschel is a respected specialist who believes that the best way to manage difficult cases and bad surgical results is with prevention, rigorous screening of candidates, careful selection of the right procedures for each individual and meticulous surgical technique. Nonetheless, certain conditions, including LASIK laser eye surgery, will impose additional risk to some patients. Some situations may require the expertise of different subspecialists, and sometimes, unfortunately, things will go wrong.

A skilled surgeon is not only trained to do things well, but also, and most importantly, to solve problems when things go wrong. It is important, though, to differentiate a subspecialty-trained surgeon from a general ophthalmologist. Being “certified” to use X or Y technology usually involves no more than a mere one-day course, a wet lab and a few cases done under the proctorship of another surgeon.

Dr. Preschel served his ophthalmology residency training at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary, which is a regional member of the National Eye Trauma System, where in addition to a vast gamut of ophthalmic pathology, he gained extensive experience treating cases of ocular trauma, surgical complications and unusual conditions requiring highly specialized techniques. Following these three years of residency training, Dr. Preschel complemented his preparation with an additional year of combined subspecialty fellowship training in cornea, refractive surgery, anterior segment surgery and glaucoma. This was achieved at the Phillips Eye Institute, under the mentorship of a group of world-renowned subspecialists at Minnesota Eye Consultants.

This unique training, along with close to two decades of clinical experience, which included hands-on training of ophthalmology residents and fellows, makes him the surgeon of choice when it comes to dealing with complex cases in Southern Florida. Not surprisingly, on multiple occasions he has been honored with the responsibility of treating fellow physicians and their relatives. Dr. Preschel is especially skilled when it comes to treatment of serious eye diseases that can lead to loss of vision. In fact, he is often referred to as a leading Pembroke Pines glaucoma treatment specialist.

Dr. Preschel is proud of his reputation as a leading Miami LASIK surgery specialist. His impeccable surgical skills, in conjunction with personalized patient care have attracted many patients from across the country and abroad who visit his leading-edge practice to undergo LASIK, PRK, cataract surgery, corneal transplants or glaucoma treatments, and consult with him on all their eye care needs. Among his patients and peers, Dr. Preschel is recognized as one of the best South Florida Crystalens eye surgeons. His gentle manner, commitment to excellence and expert knowledge have allowed him to excel in his field. In fact, his practice is well known as a “not one procedure fits all” center.
